A State-Level Autonomous Foundation
The Social Audit Society of Tamil Nadu (SASTA) is an independent organization established by the Government of Tamil Nadu through G.O. (Ms) No. 64 dated July 27, 2012. It was subsequently registered on January 9, 2013, under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act, 1975.
Functioning as a nodal agency under the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, SASTA facilitates community-led audits for major schemes including MGNREGS, PMAY-G (formerly Indira Awaas Yojana), and the Mid Day Meal Programme.
